Used Smartphone खरीदने से पहले सबसे जरूरी नियम
Refurbished और pre-owned smartphone लेना budget बचाने का तरीका हो सकता है, लेकिन सिर्फ seller के ‘like new’ label पर भरोसा करना जोखिमपूर्ण है। Battery capacity, IMEI genuineness, activation lock, hardware repair, water damage और remaining software support को separately जाँचना चाहिए। Apple की official pre-owned iPhone checklist reliable seller, return policy, device condition और Activation Lock पर जोर देती है। भारत में Department of Telecommunications का Sanchar Saathi CEIR portal IMEI verification उपलब्ध कराता है।
Refurbished और used में अंतर
Used phone केवल पहले इस्तेमाल किया हुआ handset हो सकता है। Refurbished का दावा अक्सर repair, cleaning, grading या testing process से जुड़ता है, लेकिन हर seller की definition एक जैसी नहीं। ‘Certified refurbished’ label देखकर पूछें कि certification किस संस्था ने किया, checklist क्या है और warranty कौन देता है। कोई seller device को factory-new बता रहा हो तो packaging, activation तथा invoice से consistency देखें। Product advertisement में minor scratches भी disclose करना customer trust के लिए आवश्यक है।
IMEI verification क्यों जरूरी
IMEI mobile equipment पहचानने वाला number होता है। Sanchar Saathi के Know Your Mobile tool से device validity के बारे में जानकारी चेक की जा सकती है। Official CEIR guidance के अनुसार blacklisted, duplicate या already-in-use status पर handset खरीदने से बचना चाहिए। Dual-SIM phone के दो IMEI हो सकते हैं; दोनों को separately compare करें। Box label और device settings में numbers match करें। IMEI validation ownership/title के हर legal issue का पूर्ण certificate नहीं है; genuine bill और seller identity फिर भी जरूरी हैं।
IMEI कैसे निकालें और जाँचें
Device पर *#06# से IMEI जानकारी दिखाई जा सकती है। Department of Telecommunications के official portal और SMS KYM service का उपयोग करते समय 15-digit number सही पढ़ें। Device में दो SIM slots हों तो दूसरा IMEI भी देखें। Unknown ‘IMEI checker’ website पर पूरा personal information या OTP देना सुरक्षित नहीं। Online result unavailable हो तो official help guide देखें; कोई तीसरा व्यक्ति payment लेकर device ‘unlock’ करने को कहे तो सावधान रहें।
Activation Lock और account ownership
Apple की support guide स्पष्ट करती है कि activation locked iPhone नहीं खरीदना चाहिए। Seller का Apple Account device से properly remove हुआ हो और setup आपके account से complete हो, यह verify करें। Android devices में भी factory reset protection या previous Google account की verification समस्या हो सकती है। Seller से safe handover और genuine ownership confirmation लें। यदि shop कहे कि ‘बाद में lock खुल जाएगा’ तो खरीद टालना बेहतर है।
Battery Health को केवल प्रतिशत से न आँकें
Battery consumable component है और समय के साथ उसका effective capacity घटती है। iPhone में compatible models पर battery health information देखी जा सकती है, लेकिन replaced unverified battery होने पर reported value inaccurate हो सकती है। Android brands अलग diagnostics दे सकती हैं। Seller से standby, charging, thermal behaviour और battery replacement history पूछें। एक test में अच्छा battery percentage देखकर long-term performance की guarantee नहीं मिलती।
Original बनाम non-genuine spare parts
Phone repair के बाद replacement display, battery, camera या charging port genuine है या नहीं यह important है। Apple official support बताती है कि supported iPhone models में Parts and Service History दिखाई दे सकती है। ‘Unknown’ label के अलग संभावित कारण हैं; उसे सीधे stolen device का प्रमाण न मानें। Seller से repair invoice, warranty और technician details लें। Non-genuine parts की quality अलग हो सकती है और charging या display behaviour पर असर पड़ सकता है।
Display की 6-point जाँच
Uniform white और black background पर dead pixels तथा discoloration देखें। Brightness slider के low और high ends test करें। Touchscreen में corners और keyboard की सभी keys check करें। Screen protector के नीचे cracks या hidden lines जाँचें। Automatic brightness और proximity sensor के behaviour पर ध्यान दें। OLED burn-in या replacement display quality issues इस्तेमाल की condition से जुड़े हो सकते हैं। दुकान में कम रोशनी वाली demo देखकर decision न करें।
Camera और microphone testing
Front और rear cameras से daylight तथा indoor pictures लें। Video recording में audio sync तथा focus देखें। Loudspeaker, earpiece, call microphone और Bluetooth audio separately test करें। कुछ phones में third-party camera app और stock camera की quality अलग दिखाई दे सकती है। Camera lens पर scratches, fogging या condensation serious red flags हैं। Seller के pre-recorded demo video के बजाय actual device पर short test सबसे अच्छा है।
SIM, Wi-Fi और network connectivity
अपने network provider की SIM compatibility check करें। Cellular call, mobile data, Wi-Fi, hotspot, Bluetooth, GPS और NFC जहाँ relevant हों test करें। Imported model में supported frequency bands और warranty अलग हो सकती है। Network locked handset को unlocked कहने पर written evidence माँगें। eSIM support advertised है तो exact model and region eligibility provider से देखना चाहिए।
Charging port और thermal test
Charging cable लगाकर port loose तो नहीं, check करें। Compatible charger से battery percentage बढ़ने की behaviour देखें, पर charging wattage official specifications से अलग हो सकता है। Phone को बहुत गर्म होने तक stress test करना उचित नहीं। Normal call, camera और application use में unusual shutdown या overheating पर ध्यान दें। Liquid damage indicator कुछ models में service inspection से ही पता चल सकता है; seller की honesty और return policy महत्वपूर्ण है।
Storage और performance जाँच
Advertised RAM और storage capacity Settings से compare करें। Storage nearly full होने पर phone धीमा हो सकता है। App launch, navigation, camera processing और network switching पर practical response देखें। Benchmarks एक indicator हैं, लेकिन hardware tampering या battery defects नहीं पकड़ते। Low-price 64GB model आपके photo या work-document needs के लिए जल्दी भर सकता है। Total cost में external storage availability और cloud subscription भी शामिल करें।
Android/iOS update support
Used handset को खरीदने का निर्णय लेते समय देखें कि manufacturer अब security patches और major OS versions कितना समय देगा। कई popular apps नए OS पर dependent हो सकते हैं। ‘Phone अभी fast है’ security lifecycle की समस्या हल नहीं करता। Official device support pages और current patch version compare करें। Rooted या modified firmware वाले device पर banking services तथा warranty का risk अधिक हो सकता है।
Seller, invoice और return terms
Trusted seller का नाम, invoice, IMEI, model, memory variant, grade और warranty terms लिखित में लें। Online purchase में actual device मिलने के बाद inspection और return window समझें। ‘No return under any circumstances’ policy किसी defective item पर practical risk बढ़ाती है। Refurbished equipment खरीदते समय return freight, repair centre और dispute process की clarity जरूरी है। केवल payment screenshot को official invoice न मानें।
Data wiping और privacy
Seller को उसके personal accounts से sign out और device reset करने के लिए कहना जरूरी है। Buyer device को अपने account से initialise करे। Used phone पर पहले मालिक की photographs, messages या password बची हों तो उन्हें access या publish करना गलत है। Device ownership और reset stage में reliable assistance लें। Reset के बाद भी enterprise mobile device management lock या carrier restrictions संभव हैं, इसलिए setup पूरी तरह complete करें।
Budget comparison और replacement economics
एक ₹18,000 का used phone तभी अच्छा value दे सकता है जब अगले दो वर्ष का expected battery replacement, display repair और resale value देखें। New entry-level phone कभी longer warranty देता है। Premium used phone में better camera हो सकता है पर repair bill ज्यादा। केवल launch price से आज का used device ‘70% discounted bargain’ साबित नहीं होता। Condition, support और actual alternatives compare करें।
Red flags जिन पर खरीद रोकें
IMEI mismatch, blacklisted device, activation lock, seller identity स्पष्ट न होना, repair history छिपाना, no physical inspection और बहुत सस्ता urgent offer सभी warning signs हैं। कोई device lost-and-found status में हो तो legal ownership स्पष्ट किए बिना खरीद न करें। Genuine-looking box counterfeit या mismatched हो सकता है। Payment से पहले buyer और seller दोनों के records सुरक्षित रखें।
घर ले जाने के बाद 24-hour inspection
Online खरीदे device को return window के भीतर setup करें और documented checklist का video record रखें, बिना private account details दिखाए। Calls, microphone, speaker, Wi-Fi, cameras और compatible charging test करें। Hidden defects दिखें तो seller को written report और service policy के आधार पर inform करें। किसी third-party repair shop में device खुलवाने से seller warranty invalidate हो सकती है, इसलिए return policy पहले पढ़ें।
सुरक्षा support का price से संबंध
कम कीमत वाले पुरातन phone में software patch support समाप्त हो चुका हो सकता है। Sensitive banking और office email इस्तेमाल के लिए ऐसे device का जोखिम अधिक है। Supported mid-range device कभी बेहतर long-term decision हो सकता है।
सिर्फ battery health का सुंदर screenshot पर्याप्त नहीं है। अपने सामने device में settings खोलकर वही information देखें, seller की identity तथा bill match करें और troubleshooting में अधिक खर्च लगने की संभावना को भी budget में जोड़ें।
